When Personal Finance is more Personal than Finance

September 15, 2016 By: veronicacomment

Money is definitely something that most of us think that is good to have and something that most of us would like to have more of. Most of the time, most of us see money as a tool to get certain things done and well, to get certain things.

Most of us also know that it is best to be good at managing your money, but still, when most people hear the term personal finance they directly think about bank accounts, bills, excel tables, budgets and so on. And sure, that is a big part of it, but certainly not all of it.

If you would give me your bank statements, I could easily tell you where to cut some expenses and make your budget look very good. And that would be it; it would look very good on paper, but probably wouldn’t work out for very long. Because that would be my planning and not yours.

Personal Finances are most certainly about Finances, but they are also very Personal. Personal, because they are ours, reflect the person that we are, impact the way that we live our life, how we behave and ultimately how we spend our money.

So I think that if we look at it like that; that finances are meant to be personal, are meant to express the uniqueness of who we are, of who we want to be and what we want to do, will make it both much easier and much less boring to manage. So what are the things that are important to you? Are you spending your money on those things that matter or are they being wasted on things that don’t?
