Twisted Baguettes

baguette

Cost: About 5 Shekels (US Dollar 1.5)

10 grams yeasts

300 ml water lukewarm

1 teaspoon honey

2 teaspoons olive oil

200 grams whole wheat flour

1 teaspoon salt

200 grams wheat flour

Add the yeast to the water and mix well, then add the honey and oil and mix again. Add the whole wheat flour and the salt and mix. Slowly add the wheat flour and start to knead the dough. Knead it for about 5 minutes and add more flour if the dough is still sticky.

Leave the dough to raise for half an hour to an hour, then take the dough out of the bowl and part into two pieces. Form both of them into long baguettes, then twist them around a few times and place on the baking sheet. Leave them to raise for half an hour more, then put a bit of water on them and sprinkle with a bit of coarse salt. Bake in 200 degrees Celsius for 20-30 minutes.
