DIY: Felt Foldable Computer Case

December 11, 2014 By: veronicacomment

Almost a year ago I made a case for my new laptop computer. I work mainly from home, but since I am also quite a lot on the go, I was looking for something to protect my computer. I was looking for something that is pretty, functional but that also fits my budget.

Fair, I have used the cover quite a lot but was never really satisfied with it, as it is a bit hard to get the laptop in and out from it.

This cover here, I found online last week and loved it instantly. I think It is very pretty, very functional, very easy to make, very cheap to make and most importantly, it is made from felt; my favorite material to work with.

I used one big piece of felt in black for the base of the case and some smaller pieces of turquoise felt for contrast. I would have preferred two big pieces, instead of one large and a few small, but on the other hand, I wanted to use what I already have at home.

The felt should be cut out according to the size of the laptop or tablet. I sewed the two layers together because I like to sew, but you also can use double sided fusible interfacing (a special fabric that holds the two layers together without sewing by ironing them together) or fabric glue. Apart from that I just glued on the Velcro. I cut mine out into circles but any shape is good!
