So I bought myself a new computer – big enough to have a proper screen and small enough to fit easily into my bag. These kinds of purchases are that easy for me to make as the cost is not small and I am, as you know, a bit cheap 🙂 But I need it for work and I am very happy with it.
In order to protect it when we leave the house together I wanted to try to make my own computer case. I have not made something like this before but there is always a first time for everything, right?
I made an easy envelope style form of case. I used some leftover fabric for the outside and some black felt (left over from the Purim costumes) for the lining and some kind of rubber sheet to use as absorbent in between the two layers that I found in the local craft shop.
I used the computer as the measurement for the size, adding a few centimeters in each side for the seams, cutting each fabric double so that I have two pieces of each kind. With the outside fabric I made a closing mechanism to fasten with a button (the button hole is definitely something I have to work on…).
I sewed everything together on the “wrong” side and then turning it inside out. It took me about an hour and the cost of it all was 6 Shekels (US Dollar 1.5) as I had most of the materials already (if I had to buy everything it would have been about 20 Shekels (US Dollar 5.5)!).
All in all, a nice afternoon activity that is also budget friendly.
