DIY Tin Can Pencil Holders

Is it just me or is time going unbelievably fast? Most times it scares me a little and I have to remind myself to really enjoy the present time and the fact that my kids still want to spend most of their time with me 😉 Other times it just makes me look forward to all the things to come. Things like not having to prepare sandwiches every single morning is pretty high on that list.

We are almost at the end of this school year which means that I will soon be the mother of a second and a fourth grader! My youngest is really into crafts lately; painting drawing, paper clippings and so on. He spends quite a lot of time doing these things and was therefore very exited when we got him his own desk a few weeks back.

Being the very organized boy that he is, he was looking for something to store his colored pencils and pens. Buying is always an option but then I thought it would be more fun (and sustainable) to make something ourselves. Since I have been collecting different tin cans lately, I wanted to use them.

From there it was quite easy. We used craft papers (NIS 5) cut out to fit the height and diameter of the tin cans, then glued them on using glue spray. We let them dry for a few hours and then filled them with the pens and pencils.

Really easy project that I think we will be making more of. What do you think?
