Weekend thoughts

November 30, 2014 By: veronicacomment

Sometimes our weekends are filled with plans like guests and activities, sometimes we stay all day in our pajamas, never leaving the house. Both can be great, but for our family, somewhere in the middle seems to work the best.

Our weekend here is shorter than in the rest of the world, especially for the smaller kids who goes to school and kindergarten six days a week and sometimes I think that they are the ones who needs it the most. But there is always the dilemma of whether to spend the weekend catching up on the things that we didn’t have time for during the week or to just kick back and do as little as possible.

The religious have rules for the resting day that I sometimes think makes sense even for someone who is not observant normally. Although I don’t follow the no cleaning, no cooking and no driving, etc. “rules” I think that by doing less of these on the weekend makes it easier for us to really relax and be together without the daily distractions – at least once in a while.

Yesterday was one of those days where we did a bit but not too much: breakfast at ten (so grateful that my kids are growing up!), spent the rest of the “morning” reading, playing and for me, sewing, while staying in our pajamas until three o’clock where we went for a walk on the beach till sunset and then home for a nice pasta dinner by Dear Husband. Slow and simple and budget friendly and so needed once in a while…..
