Danish Meatballs in Curry

Cost: About 25 Shekels (7 US Dollars)

Although the ingredients are not very Danish, the dish most certainly is. There are many versions of this and this one I have altered a bit because of where I live now.

For the meatballs:

500 g minced chicken meat

½ shredded onion

1 shredded carrot

1 egg

2 spoonful breadcrumbs

A bit of salt and pepper

Mix everything together in a bowl and leave it on the side for later.

For the sauce:

Oil

½ onion in fine cubes

1 minced clove of garlic

1 ½ teaspoon curry

3 spoonfuls flour

½ liter chicken stock

0.1   liter cream or coconut milk

1/2 green apple in small cubes

Fry the garlic and onion in the oil for a few minutes until soft. Add the curry, mix, and then add the flour and mix again. Pour in the chicken stock, the cream/ coconut milk and the apple cubes and let it simmer for a few minutes. Form meatballs in the size of a golf ball and add them to the sauce. Let it simmer with a lid on, on low heat for about 12-15 minutes. Serve with rice
