Sometimes we need kids as an excuse for doing certain things, like going to see that Disney movie, going on all the rides in the amusement park or sitting down and doing some crafts.
When you think about it, I guess that they shouldn’t be. We should be able to do all these things also as adult more often than not, we don’t. Not that I mind doing these things with the kids, I actually love it a lot, but maybe we should also be able to do them without an excuse.
I am kind of a late bloomer, apparently, because it took me quite a while to discover Pinterest! It is a wonderful place with so many things, but still I try to budget my time there and not get carried away 🙂 One of the things I saw a few months back was these Sharpie decorated DIY mugs which I knew immediately that I have to try out.
This weekend we sat down to do the project, the kids just as excited as me. We bought some cups beforehand at a local shop with all sorts of cheap things – NIS 21 total for 6 cups. Other than that we used different colored permanent markers, which we already have (because if you read my last post, you would know that we really like office supplies in this house ;-)).
So basically it is just color, let them dry for a few hours, then bake for 30 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius, turn off the oven and let them completely cool before taking them out.
Quite simple and although the colors changed a bit, they still look nice. I don’t know how well it holds and will probably only hand-wash them.
All in all a really nice and fun project, perfect for a few hours of crafts.
We will be back!
