I am very big on traditions and so is the family. I like the familiarity of doing something over and over again and I think it creates a great feeling of unity, closeness and safety.
One of our family traditions is our Saturday morning family breakfast. With the kids going to school and kindergarten six days a week it is the only morning we have that we don’t have to rush anything and can just move along quietly without any stress.
Our Saturday morning breakfast is normally quite traditional with home baked bread, cheeses, fruits, vegetables and coffee of course! A few weeks the kids had a craving for chocolate croissants so we tried making them ourselves.
This is what we used:
Ready-made puff pastry dough (I recommend using a butter based one)
Nutella
How we did it:
First we rolled out the puff pastry sheet to make it a bit thinner. I cut the dough into rectangles and then into triangles. The kids added a layer of Nutella on each piece of dough and then rolled it from the base of the triangle to the tip.
We place the croissants on a baking sheet and baked them for about 20 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius until they turned slightly golden.
They were very good and it is definitely something we will do again.
Have a nice weekend 🙂
