Cost: About 25 Shekels
Meatballs:
500 g ground beef
2 cloves garlic
1 onion
2 spoonful olive oil
1 handful coriander or parsley
1 egg
¼ cup breadcrumbs
½ teaspoon cumin
½ teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon sweet paprika
½ teaspoon salt
Sauce:
1 can minced tomatoes
400 ml water
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon sweet paprika
Salt and pepper
Coriander or parsley
In a mixer blend the garlic, onion and olive oil until you get ane paste. Take about half and put in on the side for later. To the paste that is left in the mixer add the coriander or parsley and blend again. Put the meat in a bowl and add the paste with the herbs, egg, breadcrumbs and spices and mix well. Form balls of the meat, approximately the size of golf balls and put on the side.
For the sauce use a big skillet. Place the other half of the garlic/onion paste in the skillet and fry for a few minutes. Then add the tomatoes, water and spices and cook for a few minutes more. Take the meat balls and place them in the sauce and cook for 10-15 minutes until they are cooked through.
Serve with rice and sprinkle a bit coriander or parsley on top.
