Pita Bread with different kind of fillings

pita

Cost: About 28 Shekels (8 US Dollars)

Pita Breads:

350 ml lukewarm water

10g fresh yeast

1 container plain yoghurt or sour cream (200 ml)

2 spoons olive oil

Ca. 400 g flour

Salt

Mix water and yeast, then add the yoghurt and the olive oil. Add the flour and knead for a few minutes. You might need a bit more as the dough should not be sticky. Leave the dough in the bowl covered by a towel for about an hour. After an hour, part the dough into 8 balls and roll out each one to a round flat bread.  Place the pitas on a baking sheet and let them raise for about 30-40 min and then bake on 225 degrees Celsius 8-10 minutes or until puffed and tops begin to brown.

They can be served with any fillings. This week we will have them with chicken cut into small cubes and tomato and cucumber salad with dressing. Other ideas can be hummus, falafel or tuna, whatever you like.
